What it does

The Canteen is a day-one crafting goal. It holds 300 mL, weighs 0.6u regardless of fill level, and takes 2 Chunks of Plastic, 1 Rope and 10 mL of Bio-chem fluid at INT 6. It is not the biggest container in the game, but it is the easiest to make before the first layer ends.

The recipe matters because clean water is not naturally common. A Canteen lets you carry boiled water from a campfire into the next layer instead of drinking it on the spot. Because it is a fluid container, its condition does not affect the liquid inside.

Effects and usage

  • Holds 300 mL of any fluid.
  • Drinking from the inventory consumes 100 mL at a time.
  • Weight stays 0.6u regardless of how full it is.
  • Craftable at INT 6 with 2 Chunk of Plastic, 1 Rope and 10 mL Bio-chem fluid.

How to get it

Craftable at INT 6; also found in life-pods and survivor stock.

The recipe requires INT 6. If you are below that level, the craft can fail or disappear from the menu. See the crafting guide for the exact failure thresholds, or open the crafting calculator to check the ingredients.

Field notes

  • Craft two if you plan to cross the Dried Desert.
  • Fill it with clean water, not groundwater. Boil first.
  • Do not store it in your main inventory where a tile fluid can contaminate it.
  • Upgrade to an IV bag or milk carton later for better capacity per unit weight.
Data note: values reflect Demo 7.0.1 and the public pre-release build. The full game releases on November 9, 2026 and may change item balance. If you spot a discrepancy, use the sources and corrections page to compare references.
