Food & Water Not craftable

Water Bottle

Clean water you can trust, if you can afford the weight.

What it does

The Water Bottle is the safest early water source. It spawns with 500 mL of clean water, and each 100 mL drink restores 9 hydration while lowering body temperature by 0.25°C. That cooling can be a benefit in the Wasteland and a hazard in the Frozen Chasm.

At 1.25u it is heavier than a Canteen and holds less than some later containers. Treat it as a reliable starter bottle, then move to a Canteen or IV bag once you can craft one. Never store a drinking bottle in your main inventory where tile fluids can contaminate it.

Effects and usage

  • 500 mL of clean water on spawn.
  • Each 100 mL: +9 hydration and −0.25°C body temperature.
  • Five drinks per full bottle.
  • Can be refilled from clean water sources or boiled groundwater.

How to get it

Life-pods, food boxes and survivor stock.

This item is found as loot or bought from survivors; it has no crafting recipe in the current demo build. Its value scales with condition, charge or fluid volume, so sell it only after checking the trade value.

Field notes

  • Keep it in a hand or belt slot so tile fluids cannot fill it.
  • Boil groundwater at a campfire before refilling; untreated water causes sickness.
  • In cold layers, drink before warming up rather than after.
  • Use a Canteen for the same job at less than half the weight.
Data note: values reflect Demo 7.0.1 and the public pre-release build. The full game releases on November 9, 2026 and may change item balance. If you spot a discrepancy, use the sources and corrections page to compare references.
