Food & Water Not craftable

Chips

A long-lasting mood snack that is not really a meal.

Ten servings of small satiation and a mood bump. Chips keep for five hours, but the sickness cost makes them a snack, not a staple.

What it does

Chips are a mood food. Each of the ten servings gives only 3 satiation and 0.7 mood, while adding 3 sickness and 0.306 kg of body mass. The five-hour decay timer makes them a reliable travel snack, but eating a whole bag will leave you queasy and heavier.

The best use is a single serving when mood is slipping and no better comfort item is available. Do not eat chips to solve hunger; a Nutrient Bar or a cooked meal does that job with far less sickness.

Effects and usage

  • Ten servings per bag.
  • Each serving: +3 satiation, +0.7 mood, +3 sickness, +0.306 kg body mass.
  • Decays 10% per serving; 300 minutes total shelf life.
  • Value 8 and weight 0.8u.

How to get it

Food boxes, vending machines, life-pods and survivor stock.

This item is found as loot or bought from survivors; it has no crafting recipe in the current demo build. Its value scales with condition, charge or fluid volume, so sell it only after checking the trade value.

Field notes

  • One serving is usually enough for the mood bump.
  • Avoid eating them while dirty; sickness can stack quickly.
  • Save the bag for a low-mood moment in a safe room.
  • Do not use chips as your primary food source in the Dried Desert.
Data note: values reflect Demo 7.0.1 and the public pre-release build. The full game releases on November 9, 2026 and may change item balance. If you spot a discrepancy, use the sources and corrections page to compare references.
