Early-game picks
Best early items in Casualties: Unknown
These are not the highest-value items in the codex. They are the five that change survival odds fastest, in roughly the order a new run needs them.
- 01 Foliage Bag Fixes the first inventory crunch for 1 Rope and 2 Canvas.
- 02 Canteen Carries clean water between layers without the Water Bottle weight.
- 03 Tourniquet Eight uses of instant bleed control; the best 0.4u in the game.
- 04 Splint Turns a run-ending fracture into a manageable detour.
- 05 Backpack The INT 13 target: 12-slot capacity and weight suspension.
How to use the codex
Weight is measured in u and determines carrying capacity. Value is the trade value used by survivors; it scales with condition and fluid volume. INT is the recognition requirement - below it, the item's name and description are hidden. Craft INT is the minimum intelligence needed to make the item, when a recipe exists.
